Survey Update
Hi All -
I'm going to have to call in today rather than join in Corvallis. Hopefully Bob and I can coordinate so we are both on the same line.
Attached are the latest draft survey, and four contact letters/postcards. The survey is getting pretty close. We've been through the survey with a fine-toothed comb and have looked back at some literature and made what I would consider the last big revision. The biggest change was deleting the NEP question. We also have the choice experiment integreated into the survey, and changed some of the early question scales and wording for better consistency with what’s out there in the literature.
I think it is pretty well focused now on what respondents believe about the qualities of the watershed, the activities respondents would support, their willingness to pay, and how their sense of place may influence their reported behavioral intentions re: programs to protect and support watershed programs. It also now fits within 12 pages in a word document. Hopefull we'll get the survey layout done in InDesign so we can get more design consistency in the next week.
The contact postcards and letters should give you a sense of the contact protocol for those who are interested. These are drafts, so please feel free to make suggestions.
Last, we are also tackling the IRB revision and should have the revised protocol prepared soon.
Talk soon,
Max

mention funding source?
Max,
Do you think it would be of interest to people to mention that USDA is the funding source in the survey cover letter? Probably the universities provide enough legitimacy, and maybe mentioning the feds would put people off, but just wanted to put the thought out there. Not a critical issue at all.
Thanks for all your work. Already I can't wait to get the results!
Cheers,
Sally
Funding Source
Hi Sally -
I think an earlier version I drafted mentioned USDA and EWEB and then got edited out (probably because it was late at night). How about inserting this for the fourth paragraph on 2nd Contact Cover Letter.
MAX -- SEE MINOR "TIGHTENING" EDITS IN PARA BELOW:
The US Department of Agriculture funded the University of Oregon and Oregon State University to investigate how public utilities such as the Eugene Water and Electric Board, and key segments of the private sector, might strengthen and support these connections for environmental and economic benefits.
We need to check that EWEB's comfortable being named, but I like it...
