The USEPA’s Ecosystem Services Research Program (ESRP) is dedicating some limited staff time to conducting an inventory of what federal agencies are doing in the realm of ecosystem services. The effort was begun in May 2010, and is currently intended to be completed by August 2012. The draft database of current federal research projects and policies related to ecosystem services is posted here to help federal agencies and others to collaborate on existing federal agency work on ecosystem services, apply findings, and avoid duplicative efforts. The database includes work in the USEPA, USDA, DOI, NOAA, DOD, and the DOT. If your work is featured in it we welcome any feedback, and also encourage you to add your ecosystem services work directly to the Ecosystem Commons catalog of work to make it more easily searchable.
We welcome collaborators on this project. The hope is that someone will help us complement this work with a parallel inventory of non-federal organization activities as well as help to expand descriptions of any federal work that we are unable to identify. Planned products also include summary reports of the inventoried work. You may find the most current products and more information on the effort at the agency website: http://www.epa.gov/ecology/partnerships/federal_exchanges.htm
